The Binky Wars
Wendy and I have been on a crusade to prevent Garrick from using a binky. Our rationale...Maggie Simpson. Sure she's cute, but she's had that darn binky for the last 10 years. We fear Garrick, being orally fixated as he is, will need the binky surgically removed once he gets started. However, after waging The BinkyWars for the past week, the score is now Garrick 1 - Parents 0.
He went to sleep in less than 5 minutes tonight after he got the pacifier. We spent the previous hour trying to get him to sleep with subtle encouragement... Needless to say the pacifier lives up to its name.

A Binky Haiku
I am known as Hal
I seep into your conscious
you can't avoid me!
Ode to my binky
my one and only first love
so sweet to my lips!

3 months old today
Well, Garrick is 3 months old today. His big achievements over the last few months have been to finally learn to nurse from a bottle and sleep about 5 hours every now and then at night. The bottle was really a feat as Wendy and I are now the owners of about 4 different bottle/nipple systems that he has no interest in.
We will have to start considering his day care arrangements soon. Wendy is already 1/2 way done with her leave. I can't believe it.
Today, his 3 month birthday, he is still not quite on a schedule. He is currently fussing with Wendy after taking a 1 hour nap around 5pm. The nap would have been good, but we generally try to get him to sleep at 7pm. The nap has him off schedule and I fear that Wendy may be facing a rough night of staying up and entertaining him while he is awake at 4am. Hopefully we can convince him soon to try and go to bed.
Now, on to Hal. Hal is his pacifier. Wendy and are not sure if are willing to allow Hal to become part of Garrick's routine, so we are doing our best to discourage it. The pacifier is very much like infant crack...just say no

It seems to work
Well, it seems to work pretty well. So, I will try and utilize it as much as I can to keep everyone informed on the Garrick news. I will also add some pictures of Wendy and the baby for you all to enjoy.
