Our Cookie Monster

Wei Wei's favorite two songs right now are "Elmo's Song" and "C is for Cookie" -- Sesame Street classics. We tried to capture him singing and dancing to "C is for Cookie," but he got distracted by the video camera and had to check out what I was doing. However, as you can see, Jerry does a pretty darn good rendition himself.

My favorite quote of the day:
Me (from the kitchen): Is there anything better than Cheese Nips?
Wei Wei (from the living room): No

That's my boy.

Mason's Birthday Party -- More Pizza!

On Sunday, Garrick had another birthday party (Mason, one of the Lim boys, who turned five years old). This was his first experience with the child heaven/hell that is known as Chuck E Cheese. It was certainly an event.

Wei Wei fell asleep in the car on the way down, so was a little groggy when we got there. And the place was pure mayhem, so I think it was a little overwhelming for him. He wasn't too thrilled with the rides, but he did love some of the games. All in all, he had a good time. The Lim boys were all so cute -- they were running around and having a great time.

Olivia's Birthday Party -- Pizza!

Sooo, we just got back from Olivia's birthday party (our neighbor who just turned six year old). Very nice, everyone got to make their own pizzas and see some magic tricks. Now, I'm back at the house with Wei Wei, who should be napping. Instead, he is sitting on the couch singing to himself about trains and various other things. I think the party got him a little too excited. They had an electric train set that he could start and stop...big fun. I'm hoping he will get to sleep soon because we have more people coming over for some college basketball in a few hours. Wish me luck!

Back from Zurich

Jerry and I came back from Zurich on Monday afternoon. What a great trip -- we walked around a lot and ate lots of cheese, bread, and chocolate. We also took two short day trips: to Stein An Rein (small, historic village) and Lucerne (at the foothills of the Alps). Weather was fairly cooperative, so we looked out. Of course, we missed Wei Wei tons, but it was nice to be back to being just Wendy and Jerry again. Being able to linger over a cappacino while sitting at an outside sidewalk cafe is really not possible with Wei Wei around.

Wei Wei had a great time with my parents too. He was able to keep up with their partying: a pot luck dinner with their friends on Saturday night, then brunch plans with Xiao Yi on Sunday afternoon. They are a social bunch.

He has also picked up drinking carrot juice every morning with Gong Gong and Po Po when he's over there. He helps Po Po wash the carrots and put them in the juicer. Mom said that when they were making juice yesterday, he told her that they didn't make enough. Already judging portions.

The hills are alive

Wendy and I are off to Switzerland in a few hours so we will not be updating the blog for a few days. So, to tide everyone over, here are a few pics from last week.

The first photo is Wei Wei doing some dishes for us. We appreciate his effort, but the quality wasn't really there. The second photo is my speciality...the one handed self-portrait. Last is Wei Wei enjoying some CornFlakes from his yogurt cup. You have to wonder what he's thinking in this one!

It ain't easy.

So, Wei Wei is now past 2 years old and still is not what anyone would consider a good sleeper(or eater for that matter). So, we go back and forth between letting him do what he wants ie: read books all night and laying the law down. That's right, this kid needs to know who the boss is. I personally think it's me, but there is some opposition in the house. So, we just go on day by day with less and less sleep with what appears to be no resolution in sight. Maybe he will let us off the hook sometime soon!

Anyway, on a brighter note. The kid loves him some Qdoba. Wendy asked him tonight what he wanted for dinner and he said Qdoba...funny. That might mean we go there a little too often. Then again, he didn't say McDonalds or Pizza Hut, so I don't think DYFS shoul be knocking on the door anytime soon.
