Weekend Musings

Well, another weekend has come and gone. We managed a good mix of staying at home and going out. The Aunties came to the rescue Saturday night and Wendy and I took advantage of their very reasonably priced babysitting services. We met friends in Somerset for a nice Italian dinner (and a few apple martinis...yummy). Sunday was spent around the house. We did manage a quick trip out at around 4pm. We even managed a quick nap.

Wendy also took Garrick out for a haircut on Saturday. I've attached a link with a quick video.

Another few hours and it's back to work. Lucky for me I'm not usually forced to work too hard!

Haircut

Wei Wei and I ran some errands this morning while Jerry went to the gym. First, we went to the car wash to clean the Mini--all the activity and all the cars were a big hit. Then we went the barber shop for a haircut. That was not as big a hit.

We had to wait in line, so we watched a man and two boys go before us. We asked each of them whether it hurt and complimented them on how handsome they looked. They even have a little fire engine chair that Wei Wei could have sat in, but he wasn't interested. So he sat in my lap and cried through the entire haircut (which is what he normally does). I felt so bad for him.

He looks so much more like a little boy now. We'll post a picture soon.

When he saw Xiao Yi last night, he told her that he cried when he got his hair cut, but that it didn't hurt. He's a funny boy.

Only for Grandparents...really

So, I have a new video, but at almost 3 minutes long I think it will only hold the interest of Grandparents. So, view at your own risk!

More karma

The House of Germs continues.

Wei Wei is finally feeling better -- the stomach flu went away, but his goopy, crusty eyes weren't showing any signs of improvement. Jerry took him to the doctor yesterday and Wei Wei has some sort of conjunctivitis, so now we have to give him eye drops three times a day.

Well, Jerry (aka, "the canary) is now down with something. Lots of coughing and hacking. And his eyes are all goopy and crusty too. He doesn't look so good. Looks like another weekend at home for us.

Maybe Jerry needs to make more donations to other organizations too.

Karma

Have you ever had one of those days (or few days) that make you believe in Karma? Well, Wendy, Garrick, and I are having one now. Garrick is too young to have done much wrong, Everyone loves Wendy, so that leaves me. I must have done something really wrong at some time in the past. Why you ask?

These have been the events for the past few days. Garrick has had a high fever and a terrible stomach flu, complete with vomiting. Then Siggy started to pee on everything. Then Siggy started bleeding and peeing...that's not a nice sight at all. Siggy then goes to the emergency vet (to the tune of lots-o-money) to find out he has a bladder infection and will need additonal medical care later this week. Then, just as we seem to get it all under control, Garrick seems to be getting some sort of eye infection.

I think I'll donate some money to Save the Children now. If you feel like helping me out of this funk go to www.savethechildren.org. Let's help my Karma!

The Potty is Not Just a Piece of Furniture

An exciting milestone today -- Wei Wei peed in the potty! This was only the third time, but the first time it felt like everything clicked. There was a lot of starting and stopping, so to speak, so it seemed like he knew what parts did what.

We hope this is only the beginning . . .

New Year's Resolutions

So, the new year has begun and as a result so have the resolutions. To prove that it's never to early to start thinking about your weight, Garrick started an exercise program with Po Po.

Ice Pops in January

The weather has been really, really warm here in NJ. As a result, Garrick got to have an ice pop in January instead of the more traditional hot cocoa!

Judy, P'ng, and Kaixiang's visit

The Wong-Loke faction from Alameda, CA came for a holiday visit. We got to meet our new nephew, Kaixiang, who bravely made the six-hour flight at the ripe age of seven weeks. (He already has the Wong travel bug, I think.) It's hard to remember that Garrick was ever that small! Kaixiang is absolutely adorable and we're all in love with him. Even Garrick! Garrick was fascinated with his cousin -- always wanting to kiss him or touch him, which is good and bad, as you can imagine. When we asked him what a baby says, he said "wah-wah-wah!" and crinkled his eyes and nose. So young and so wise.

Our Trip to Indiana

Still catching up on our posts. We visited Grandma and Grandpa Fuller's new home in Clayton, IN in mid-December to celebrate an early Christmas and someone's 60th birthday with the Fullers and the Smiths. We were also able to catch up with some friends from IU.

Our Trip to Florida

Trying to catch up some posts -- we went to visit the Torlucci family in early November and had a great time visiting Joanne, Mark, Carina, and Sophie. It was soooo cute watching Carina and Sophie with Garrick. They are natural big sisters!
